AP Diving Supports IAHD Adriatic and Divers with Disabilities

Here’s another great post from IAHD Adriatic, an organisation training divers with disabilities that AP Diving has supported for many years…

After two years of waiting, Russian authorities finally approved our application for diving in Star City (Zvyozdny Gorodok) in Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre (GCTC). At the end of April 2013 we have the chance to dive into a hydro- laboratory capable of accommodating a 20-ton space station module, used for simulating EVA (spacewalk) weightlessness. The approval is for a group of divers after SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) and their able bodied assistants from Russia and Slovenia, members of IAHD Adriatic. This act is a first of that kind on the world. Because of disabled divers we will be able to wear our own equipment (dry suits, BCD’s, Regulators and computers or wrist watches).

Best regards,
